2001 Love Poem

When we're together

Our bodies wrap around one another, like

Two worms .....Squirm, squirm

Though we know which end each others heads are at,

Most of the time.

Our naked forms rub, back n forth

Back n forth, like

You're the finger and I'm the chicken pock, that

Won't stop itching.

When we kiss,

I think of how much of your spit is getting in my mouth

And I remember how kids used to spit at me

From the balcony, at school

Whilst others held me underneath with my mouth pried open.

Our breath becomes one breath, united

So that the stale smell of your cigarettes, and my

Wild, Cherry- Flavoured cough suppressant, intermingle, and

Create another unlikely couple.

We grope and grasp like middle - aged housewives at

Judy's discount

I feel your hands searching every part of my body

As though I were a discount bin

I feel on special, and

I arch my back in response, like a cat

Smiling at both ends.

We take to making love, like

The dogs down the street

And pause, like

They did -

To get a better grip on one another.

I near orgasm, and tremble and shake, like

An unbalanced washing machine

You say the words ......

"I'm going to come, in a tone that suggests

You're actually excited about going somewhere with me.

And I realise, I love you, but can only guess

Of whom you're thinking.
